Overview
The ACCA Qualification is organized into three levels. Applied Knowledge covers Business and Technology, Management Accounting and Financial Accounting. Applied Skills covers Corporate and Business Law, Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance and Financial Management. Strategic Professional has two essentials, Strategic Business Leader and Strategic Business Reporting, plus two options chosen from Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Performance Management, Advanced Taxation and Advanced Audit and Assurance. Alongside the exams, candidates complete the Ethics and Professional Skills module and the Practical Experience Requirement.
All exams are computer-based. ACCA describes two delivery types: on-demand exams, which you can book at a center year-round and which currently include the Applied Knowledge papers and Corporate and Business Law, and session exams, which run in the quarterly sittings. Results and formats are set by ACCA, so we check the current exam page for your paper when we plan.
Common problems are predictable: spending too long on objective test questions in section A and B, producing workings that are hard to follow in the spreadsheet response area, and in higher papers writing generic points that do not use the scenario. Our sessions target these directly, using ACCA's own practice platform and past-exam material, and your own timed answers.
Who it’s for and the problems it solves
This is for you if you are…
- Students at university or on accredited degree routes starting Applied Knowledge papers
- Working trainees preparing Applied Skills papers such as FR, PM, FM, AA or TX alongside a job
- Strategic Professional candidates who need help with SBR reporting judgments or the SBL case-study style exam
- Candidates retaking a paper after a result just below the pass mark
- Learners deciding which Strategic Professional options fit their career path
Common problems we help with
- You finish section A and B objective questions with too little time for the constructed-response questions
- Your workings in the CBE spreadsheet are correct in your head but hard for a marker to follow
- SBR answers explain the standard but do not apply it to the scenario's numbers and facts
- SBL feels unlike any exam you have taken, with long pre-reading and professional skills marks
- Tax or audit papers feel like memorizing endless rules without a structure
- You have been exempt from lower papers and have gaps that show up at higher levels

- Written comments on your timed constructed-response answers: what earned credit, what was generic, and how to lay out workings or points more clearly.
- Technique notes
- Short, paper-specific notes on question approach, such as the standard layout for a consolidation or a tax computation, and time allocation per question.
- Mock debrief
- A marked-up review of your mock, identifying knowledge gaps, time management and presentation issues, with the next steps.
- Retake review
- For retakers, an analysis of your result and study approach, and a revised plan for the next sitting.
How it works
Choose the paper
Tell us which paper and sitting you are aiming for, your exemptions and any previous results.
Diagnose
We look at recent practice answers or set a short timed question to see technique and knowledge gaps.
Plan
We agree weekly targets and session times that fit your job and the exam entry timetable.
Practice and feedback
Sessions alternate between teaching difficult areas and reviewing your timed answers.
Final mocks
You sit at least one full mock in CBE conditions; we debrief and focus the last two to three weeks.
Techniques we coach
- Mark-per-minute timing
- Allocating time to each question in proportion to its marks and moving on when time is up, so constructed-response questions are not squeezed.
- Scenario anchoring
- Every point in an SBR, AA or SBL answer tied to a fact, figure or person in the scenario, rather than a textbook statement.
- Transparent workings
- Setting out calculations in the spreadsheet response area with labels and references so method marks are available even if a figure is wrong.
- Standard layouts
- Practicing the pro-forma structures for group accounts, tax computations, investment appraisal and variance analysis until they are automatic.
- Professional skills framing
- For SBL and SBR, shaping answers to show the professional skills the question calls for, such as evaluation or communication in the required format.
- Examiner report review
- Using ACCA's published examiner reports and technical articles to understand where candidates commonly lose marks on your paper.
The three levels and what each asks of you
The structure below reflects ACCA's published qualification structure at the time of writing. Paper names, exemptions and delivery rules can change, so confirm details on your ACCA account and the exam pages.
- Applied Knowledge: Business and Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA), Financial Accounting (FA), delivered as on-demand CBEs with results shown at the end of the exam
- Applied Skills: Corporate and Business Law (LW), Performance Management (PM), Taxation (TX), Financial Reporting (FR), Audit and Assurance (AA), Financial Management (FM)
- Strategic Professional essentials: Strategic Business Leader (SBL) and Strategic Business Reporting (SBR)
- Strategic Professional options (choose two): Advanced Financial Management (AFM), Advanced Performance Management (APM), Advanced Taxation (ATX), Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA)
- Session CBEs run in quarterly sittings, with results released some weeks after the sitting
Why higher papers feel different
Applied Skills papers mix objective test questions with longer constructed-response questions. At Strategic Professional level, most marks come from extended scenarios, and credit goes to judgment: recommending an accounting treatment and explaining its effect, or advising a board with the risks and ethical issues in view. We practice writing short, specific paragraphs with clear headings, the style that tends to score well in the CBE word processor.
What the work can look like
Illustrative example — fictional data
Sample feedback excerpt: Financial Reporting constructed response
An invented FR candidate submitted a timed consolidated statement of financial position question. The scenario and figures are fictional and shown for illustration.
What worked
Goodwill calculation was correct and clearly labeled, and the fair value adjustment on land was brought in consistently.
Where marks were lost
The unrealized profit on intra-group inventory was adjusted in the parent's retained earnings instead of the seller's, and non-controlling interest workings were not referenced, so method marks were hard to award.
Next practice
Three short questions on intra-group trading in each direction, with a standard workings layout, then one full 20-mark question under 36 minutes.

- Your weekly availability and work deadlines such as year-end
You don’t need everything ready to ask for a quote — tell us what you have and we’ll say what’s missing.
What affects price and turnaround
Price depends on
- The paper and level, since Strategic Professional feedback takes longer
- Number of sessions and weeks until your sitting
- Volume of written answers you want marked with feedback
- Whether foundational gaps from exempted papers need reviewing first
Turnaround depends on
- Exam entry deadlines and the sitting you are targeting
- How many full mocks you can sit before the exam
- Work pressure such as audit busy season or year-end
Every project is quoted individually. How we price our work.
Questions people ask before starting
Can you help if I study with a tuition provider already?
Yes. Many candidates use us alongside a course to get individual feedback on written answers and technique. We work with the study materials you already have.
Which Strategic Professional options should I choose?
It depends on your work and interests. AAA suits auditors, ATX tax professionals, AFM those in treasury or corporate finance and APM those in management accounting or performance roles. We discuss your background, but the choice is yours.
Do you mark answers against the official marking scheme?
We compare your answer to the published solutions and marking guidance for past or specimen exams, and explain where you would likely have earned or missed credit. Our feedback is an indication, not an official mark.
Can you help with the Ethics and Professional Skills module or PER?
We can explain concepts and how the module or the performance objectives work, but the module and your PER statements must be your own work, signed off by your practical experience supervisor where required.
How far ahead should I start before a session exam?
For most Applied Skills papers, candidates plan several months of part-time study. We look at your starting point and suggest whether the next sitting is realistic.
